Sarah and Ben's wedding at The Low Wood Hotel

22nd June 2014
On Saturday 24th May I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Ben and Sarah's wedding, a wonderful day throughout. I started my day by visiting Sarah and her bridesmaids at her parents house where everyone was in good spirits and my friend and fantastic makeup artist Kay Booth was applying the final touches to Sarah's makeup. A few quick candids and a shot of the beautiful bridal bouquet provided by Alyson of Posh Flowers before I set off to St Mary's Church Dalton to catch up with Ben, Tim and Chris who we're comparing socks in the church doorway.

It wasn't long before Sarah arrived with her dad in the back of a Classic Bentley, Sarah was radiant and dad looked ever so slightly nervous. It didn't seem long before Ben and Sarah were walking back down the aisle as Mr and Mrs Irwin and we all set off for the wedding breakfast at a fantastic venue on the shores of Lake Windermere, the Low Wood Hotel.

The weather was being kind and the party celebrated on the lawn to the lovely sounds of a harp and flute with the lake and views towards the Langdale Pikes as a backdrop. After mingling with their guests for a while Ben and Sarah joined me on the jetty to make use of the view for some stunning wedding photographs with Lake Windermere and the Langdales in the background. The Low Wood Hotel is a fantastic venue for a wedding so we took the time to get some more photos around the gardens before returning to the party. Thankfully the rain held off until it was time for everyone to go inside to dine so things were just perfect.

Following the speeches and meal the guests were kept entertained by a casino that had been laid on upstairs. It was serious stuff with some big bets getting placed and there were a few tense moments waiting for the roulette wheel to stop, rumour has it that at one stage Ben had won £32,000 !

Before we knew it the DJ was introducing the bride and groom for the first dance, the evening party was then in full flow.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Ben and Sarah all the best for their future together, a truly lovely couple. Thanks for choosing me as your wedding photographer.

Darren.
