The wedding of Darren and Anna at Abbey House Hotel

19th April 2015
A couple of weeks ago the town seemed to be engulfed in fog as we set off to photograph the wedding of Darren and Anna. First stop was Anna’s parent’s house where Kay Booth had just finished with make up and Anna was now having her hair done. Before we left for Abbey House Hotel the wonderful flowers were delivered by Efflorescence so we quickly took a shot of the bouquet on the way out.

We were greeted at Abbey House by the sound of a lone piper and Darren and his groomsmen were all waiting anxiously outside. Before too long they took their positions inside and Anna’s beautiful bridesmaids arrived just ahead of Anna herself who looked stunning. The red carpet was out and flanked by two wonderful lanterns so we took the opportunity to get a picture of Anna and her parents before she became Mrs Smith.

Following the short service the register was signed, the couple were married and the celebrations began! We made use of the grounds outside Abbey House for the family wedding photographs and as the children entertained themselves I grabbed a few cute candid pictures of them, kids are always better photographed doing their own thing.

During our pre-wedding photo-shoot with Darren and Anna we discussed a couple of locations for that special portrait of them both on their big day. I had been on a recce to the chosen locations earlier in the week and they looked good, unfortunately the day’s thick fog would render them useless. Throughout the morning I was thinking of a ‘Plan B’ just in case the fog didn’t lift and as it hadn’t Darren and Anna had to put their faith in me with what could have sounded like a ridiculous plan. Anyway they went along with it and came with me to a secret location that I know where I was hoping the fog might actually enhance the image. A few quick shots including a beautiful bridal portrait of Anna and we were on our way back to Abbey House to re-join the guests for the celebrations.

At this point I must say a very big thank you to Fred (Anna’s Dad) for inviting Lesley and I to join the rest of the guests for the meal, which was fantastic. Before that got underway though we had tears and laughter during the brilliant speeches that I’m sure were enjoyed by everyone, even the ever so slightly embarrassing bits.

The celebrations went on into the evening and I left the guests enjoying themselves in the Great Hall.

Thanks Darren and Anna for booking us as your wedding photographers and best wishes for your future together.
