Legend Fires North West Stages
Saturday the 23rd March 2019 and the North West’s first closed road rally was about to begin, the Legend Fires North West Stages!
As a huge motorsport fan and passionate photographer, I was overjoyed to be given my first media accreditation for a motorsport event so thanks go out to Phil Bramhill for having faith in me. After signing on I set off for the first stage, Nicky Nook 1, and found a crest that looked like it could produce some action. It wasn’t long before the cars were away and passing us at 30 second intervals, none stop action and I couldn’t ask for more. There were four closed road stages in total each driven three times, so I managed to photograph the action at stages 1, 6 and 9. There were a lot of photographers present so as well as the more typical action shots I tried to be a bit creative with some of my images, possibly not to everyone’s taste but I’m happy with the results. A few images from the day are below and I’ll upload a full set to the motorsport gallery later in the week.
It was a fantastic event, probably the best I’ve been to for a long time so congratulations to Motorsport (North West) Limited for putting it on, I’m sure it was hard work organising but very worthwhile and the crowds of spectators looked to be enjoying every minute. Thanks must also go to everyone involved from the town councils, Myrescough College, marshals’ and emergency services to name a few.
So, here’s a few images to tease you for now, as I said above I tried to be a bit creative with some so would appreciate any comments, good or bad.
