The Wedding of Chloe & James
After the recent spell of hot sunny weather it was disappointing to wake up to rain on Saturday the 16th June as I had an early start to travel to Three Hills Barn in Torpenhow, a wonderful wedding venue in the Lake District countryside where Chloe and James were to be married at 12:00. I had the privilege of being their Lake District Wedding Photographer and the day was to start at the Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat where I would meet Chloe and the girls as they started their preparations for the day.
As I arrived at their lodge the rain was still running down the windows and the sheep were looking on wondering what all the fuss was about. The girls were undeterred and in fine spirits with hair and makeup underway courtesy of Emma and Alice and it wasn’t long before the Prosecco was flowing. I stayed for a while to capture the preparations and before you knew it Chloe was in her beautiful dress and Dad Gary shed a tear as he walked in the room to see her.
It was a short drive to Three Hills Barn where I caught up with James and the guys, a few quick photos and then proceedings would get underway. It was a lovely service with the bride and groom reading their own vows to each other before exchanging rings and having their first kiss as man and wife.
The wedding party then headed for a drinks reception in a marquee where there was a ‘Pimp your Prosecco’ stand and wheelbarrows full of Corona, both of which went down well. The canapés were absolutely delicious (yes I confess I snuck a couple) and the beer pong game kept people entertained. The weather still wasn’t playing ball so the team from Three Hills Barn and Liz’s Country Kitchen pulled out all the stops to rearrange the barn and serve the wedding breakfast early just in case the rain stopped later to allow us to get out for some photos.
The Bride & Groom were announced into the room to great applause from family and friends, they were followed by their attendants who put on a great show with singing and dancing as they entered two by two. The speeches brought laughter and tears and they were mixed with games like Rock ‘n Roll Bingo where we had a tie for the house. This was decided on the speed the desert could be eaten and we had a certain winner who ate it that quick he had to show evidence it was ever in his mouth!
By now the rain had stopped and the sun was shining (in between passing clouds) so we managed to get out for some lovely photos around the farm and in the woods. By the time we got back the wine, prosecco, cider and yeager bombs (and tequila) oh and lager was flowing and spirits were high. Before we knew it the time had come to cut the cake and move onto the first dance, which started quietly before everyone was encouraged onto the dance floor and the party began!
A huge congratulations to Chloe & James, best wishes for your future together and thanks for selecting me as your wedding photographer. I had a great day and your family and friends all made me so welcome!
I hope everyone enjoys these photos from the day, please leave a comment below.
